NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM WITH INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPATION ERAS 2025, organized by the Serbian Association of Emergency Surgery, was held on 13. in October 2025. Thematically dedicated to the modern concept of advanced treatment of surgical patients, the ERAS (ENHANCED RECOVERY AFTER SURGERY – ERAS) PROTOCOL is one of the most important protocols in modern surgery and concerns a multimodal, multidisciplinary evidence-based approach to reduce stress for patients undergoing surgery and ensure faster recovery, with a lower percentage of complications, treatment costs and shorter hospitalization. It is intended for all members of a multidisciplinary team that treats a surgical patient: surgeons, anesthesiologists, radiologists, doctors of other specialties, nurses and technicians. At the symposium, we had the opportunity to hear experts from different centers in Serbia, as well as special guests from abroad, which opened the horizons for the most modern approach to the treatment of surgical patients, in all centers, even the smallest surgical hospitals.
